Ocean City - The Beach

Every year we go and stay in Ocean City, New Jersey for a couple nights twice during the summer. We stay at a great hotel right on the beach that has a pool and a view of the rides, which the girls love. This year by far was the best year yet for the beach. With the girls getting older, the beach gets easier. In fact all three days we were at the beach we stayed at least 6 hours each time. The girls would even cry when it was time to go back to the hotel. The weather was beautiful, but the water was freezing. It was around 56 degrees, which is crazy considering it is the end of July. The first day was funny, we basically threw our stuff down at the hotel and went right to the beach. Kylie ran right into the water not even looking back. Karly was a little hesitant. She wasn't sure. She finally got brave and got knocked down blindsided by a wave and swallowed a bunch of ocean water. After that she would hold her breath every time a wave would come. It was funny.

The girls would come out to play in the sand and because I needed a break to feel the circulation in my feet again. We had a whole bag of beach toys and it was funny to see them in their own little world making sand pies, digging for castles, making a pit, and just playing. I can remember as a kid playing in the sand for hours. The sand was everywhere on them. They even started burying each other in the sand which was really funny. It was such a great first day. We left the beach and went to the heated pool at the hotel, which was awesome.
On the last day the girls had been begging for a boogie board. They each got to pick one and they ran into the water. Kylie got the hang of it right away and was out in the waves. She literally was in the ocean for 3 hours straight. Karly was funny, she strapped the boogie board strap to her wrist but would go into the waves with it and not against the waves. You couldn't tell her any different, she knew what she was doing, so she spent the whole time doing it that way, until she saw another little girl doing it than she started to do it the right way but instead of putting her body onto the boogie board she would hang on to it and let the wave take her. Every time the wave would knock her down she had to get out of the water, readjust her strap and than would get back in. It was pretty funny.
All and all it was a great beach trip. The girls also go their food taken away by seagulls which the first time was kind of funny, Karly just sat there and watched the seagull take her food. After that anytime that she saw a seagull she would shout loudly SHOO, over and over again. When she was on the boardwalk she would say seagulls can't have water ice and hover over her food. Here are some beach pictures.
