Today's church sermon was about how important grandparents are in children's lives. I of course started crying because my grandfather recently passed away and it made me sad because everything the pastor said about a great grandparent was what my grandparents embodied. One of the striking things he said that grandparents give you is time. Growing up my grandparents gave me the gift of time. We were never in a rush, the days just went by slowly and we just enjoyed life. My grandparents also would listen and encourage. When everyone else seemed to think I was crazy with a decision or something in my life, my grandparents would encourage and support and always find the positive in a situation. All my childhood memories include my grandparents. I always knew they were there for me no matter what. I know my parents are busy with work and their own life, but it makes me so sad that my girls won't have the same experience that I did with my grandparents. It makes me sad that time is so rushed for them and they never will spend a weekend at their grandparents house just enjoying nothing. It makes me sad that they will never know my grandmom or grandpop the way that I did. I am so grateful to god that he blessed me with them in my life. I don't know how empty my life would have been without them. I hope that my own parents life will slow down some day and my girls will be able to reap the benefits of having grandparents who can give them the simpleset gift of time.

Kristy,
The blog is well written and the pictures are great, really capturing the girl's different personalities.
Don't feel sad about Kylie and Karly not having the same time with their grandparents as you did. They seem to enjoy the weekly Wednesday night dinners and visits as much as their mom-mom does. Weekend overnighters are tough for someone who needs to work every weekend. Be happy for the frequency the girls spend time with mom-mom. Many grandparents and grandchildren living hundreds of miles apart would be jealous of how close your mom and the girls can be.
Your blog title describes very well the relationship between the girls and their mom-mom. She is not a constant companion or presence, but she would never let go..............
Love ya all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
